Welcome from Spot On Anna.
Have you ever wanted to jump ahead into the future… to be able to look back to the past and then tell yourself all the things you know to be true that will set you on the right path to success, to help yourself in avoiding all the things you would of done differently and to see unfold all the curiosities of your life in all their colors, like all the things that shape us, and that help us grow?
This is a powerful exercise. Imagine if we all shared these experiences how much richer and more equipped we’d be in life, so let’s try it, go grab a drink, give yourself a break and we’ll start. I’ll jump in and go first!
Thinking of years past, if I knew then what I know now, I'd write a letter to myself for when I came back to Senegal after receiving my education in the USA, I'd wish to encourage my younger self, telling her that she's on her own path and will be remarkably successful as an independent businesswoman building an international brand. Then, to inspire her further, I'd remind her to hold onto her feelings of excitement and enthusiasm in order to develop her brand even faster, so that she could be well positioned as soon as reasonably possible to support ambitious entrepreneurs with streamlining their business operations online. To enhance this vision even more, I'd clarify how essential it is to consistently factor in her passion, 'big picture' vision and the necessity of mutual collaboration with like-minded individuals & corporations.
Build a brand around your passion.
At an early age, while growing up in a French speaking country in West Africa, upon hearing the word 'freelancer' it had an impactful influence on me, in the sense that the idea of having such a career captivated me & felt spot on for my future. To be prepared for such a career, I immediately knew that I'd need to learn English and become an excellent copywriter. I also knew that I wanted to build my career around things I love: English, magazines, designs and all sorts of mediums of visual communications. Although I didn't have a specific career plan initially, the focus of the idea lingered in my passions. In time, I felt the urge to go and study in the USA, and my dream was getting closer and closer to being realized.
Envisioning a brighter future in Africa...
Then years later, I made a decision on a whim to return to Africa, back to my country, Senegal, instead of staying to work in America. Envisioning myself as a successful woman working as an elite entrepreneur, I set my definite goal around creating an international brand & organization which represents global firms, particularly those who want to gain a foothold in Africa.
From a personal perspective, my own story and my love of working with entrepreneurs was inspired by my growing up in a successful family business. My grandfather traveled around the world selling construction materials, representing Europeans brands and importing green tea from China. My grandmother also visited foreign countries on her own to buy merchandise. To me, their examples taught me that success and global business go hand-and-hand. As a result, I endeavored to build my own life project around international business.
Stay motivated, day after day.
Although my father was greatly displeased with my decision to come back to Senegal, rather than staying in America and building my career there, he nevertheless understood my reasoning and supported my choice to return home and make a living, in my beloved home country. The sense of belonging and interest in investing in my own country is so meaningful to me, and as I mentioned I certainly owe part of my success to my roots, coming from a family of entrepreneurs.
From early on, I've felt there's been a need to bridge the gap between French and English cultures, particularly their ways of doing business. English speaking countries have tended to be far more inclined to global business, in my opinion, while French speaking countries in this part of the world, West Africa, have been lagging behind due to the more traditional French way of life. Although I can see many possibilities for bridging the communications gap, doing business between different cultures tends to encounter numerous areas where there's profound resistance to change. It takes time to change minds. It takes time, too, for organizations to build trust and see the success of new ventures & programs.
Collaborating with a global brand.
One day, seemingly by surprise, while researching freelance businesses online, I came across a brand called 1nSourcing™ and in time decided to invest in the business model, after following its global adoption for many years. My discovery of 1nSourcing dates back to 2016, after a friend of mine who came from London introduced me to a new trend in working online as a virtual assistant. She saw an opportunity to streamline my work, while I saw an opportunity to expand and utilize social media to work closely with global entrepreneurs. Shortly thereafter my company, Spot On Anna was born!
The founder of 1nSourcing is an English woman by the name of Michelle Dale, who's now settled across the continent from me in Egypt. She still works as a virtual assistant, even after living in so many different countries while working remotely with her clients. Her experience of more than 18 years in the virtual assistant industry has helped her clients from all over the world to bring their unique visions to life online.
Throughout my website, you'll see how my various services are built around packages and roles, rather than hourly fees. In a nutshell, my clients' primary interest is in "the result" and the level of dedicated service I provide. I have a very high degree of expertise in what I do, am confident in my ability to fairly accurately determine the scope of my attention required within any given project, and I like to ensure my clients can keep their costs under strict control, which best ensures there aren't any unexpected surprises when working with me.
